Gazette Information: Gazette Issue 31119. 2nd Bar to D.S.O. The King has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of a second Bar to the Distinguished Service Order to this Office for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This officer, realising that the battalion was very short of officers, and that many of the men were inexperienced in trench to trench fighting, led it himself in the attack, keeping close up with the barrage, with the result that all objectives were gained, and machine guns put out of action before they could open fire. He personally superintended the consolidation, and by his able dispositions minimised casualties.
