Later Rear-Admiral. Joined Royal Navy as a Midshipman on HMS Canada in 1917. Promoted to Commander 1935 and served on board HMS Courageous and HMS Cossack. Also served in the Second World War. High Sheriff of Nottingham 1958. Shown on the Executive Officers Retired List 1967.
