Brigadier General Anton was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the Director of Fighter Support Operations. On March 20, 1952, He was killed in a aircraft crash at Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Nebraska. For his leadership and valor, Brigadier General Anton was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit Medal, the French Croix de Guerre with Palm, , the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
