Private First Class Woodson was a member of the Ammunition Renovation Platoon, 59th Ordnance Group. On June 16, 1952, he was killed by an explosion of an ammunition dump near Heunde, South Korea. Private First Class Woodson was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
