Sergeant Windle was a member of Company A, 72nd Medium Tank Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. On January 29, 1951, he was killed when a personnel carrier rolled down a slope and ran into his tent near Ac-Dong, North Korea. Sergeant Windle was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
