Mutiny of the Russian Battleship Potemkin

n June of 1905, sailors aboard the Russian battleship, Kniaz Potemkin, mutinied killing 7 officers and imprisoning the other 11. Later, the ship went to Odessa, Ukraine were striking workers were rioting. After a reported massacre of demonstrators on the Odessa Steps the Potemkin fired two shells into the city. The events were important precursors to the Russian Revolution of 1917 and were immortalized in Sergei Eisenstein's 1925 film "Battleship Potemkin."
