REMARKS: Enemy Aircraft attacked some of the elements in the formation without results. The P-38 escort gave excellent cover, shooting down one ME-109.

Flak was heavy, moderate to intense and very accurate. The ships flown by F/O’s Collins and Wirth were hit several times. Lt. Dauley’s radio-gunner, Sgt. W.L. Rea, was hit by flak but not injured.

Results of bombing --- very satisfactory coverage of the landing ground.
