nd Lt William Clarence McCarron was born on June 23, 1896, in St Louis, Missouri, his parents were John F and Virginia (Evers) McCarron. He had two older brothers and four older sisters. Lt McCarron served with distinction in the 168th Aero Squadron during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. He served 14 months and was shot down three times. Upon his return to the U.S. he was stationed at the Mexican border and was transferred to Camp Benning, Georgia to teach flying. He died in a plane crash on July 19, 1920, near Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 24, and was buried in his hometown.
