"Cordial Distrust: Allies For Better, For Worse"Author Anton Joly recently published a four-volume series on the negotiations between the Allies and the Russians, at the beginning of WWII (http://staldata.com/). This series is introduced in this twenty minute documentary video. It explains the trials and tribulations of these negotiations, and why Churchill insisted that he couldn't open up a 'Western Front' against the Germans, which, if done, might have helped to alleviate the pressure on Russian troops fighting the Germans in the East, by diverting German divisions back toward the West. Churchill insisted all Britain could do, as late as 1941, was continue its bombing campaign against Germany, much to Stalin's dismay.

"TARGET FOR TODAY PART 2 EIGHTH AIR FORCE BOMBING RAIDS OVER GERMANY 1943-44" 27704aBattleReleased in 1944, TARGET FOR TODAY is a documentary film describing the preparation and mounting of a United States Army Air Forces raid on East Prussia It contains much combat footage of B-17 and B-24 bombers and named for the phrase used at briefings before air raids. Prior to the combat footage, the documentary explains Operation Pointblank target selection and depicts planning, briefing, and preparation. The film documents the October raids made by the Eighth Air Force on targets in Anklam, Marienburg, and Gdynia in Poland, all industrial centers for the Nazi war machine. The raids were made by B-17 and B-24 heavy bombers. General Hap Arnold called the series of attacks "the greatest strike ever". According to Arnold, they helped cripple German aircraft production and signaled the beginning of the end for the Luftwaffe. The documentary documents these three air raids from planning, to briefing, preparation, and then reveals in unparalleled sequences the brutal battles waged at 30,000 feet.
