Civil War (Union) · US Army

United States of America
P

hoto at Civil War Reunion for Company E, 2nd Regt., Minnesota Volunteer Infantry - Abt. 1887. The man in the middle of the front row is Ferdinand Wendland, born 01 Oct 1836 in Còdram (Kodram), Wollin, Pommern, died 09 Mar 1912 in Brownton, McLeod Co., Minnesota. I do not know the names of the others. Some of the other veterans in the area who served with Ferdinand and who were listed in the 1890 US census of Civil War survivors were Jocob Kovus, Abel Osgood, Willard? Naughart, Riley Lumnell, Carl Rickert, Borchert Goedenick, William Gaulke, August Nieker, and Baptist Steinert (father of Katherine M. Steiner [she married John August Friedrich Wendland b. 28 Oct 1867]). Some spellings are probably incorrect.
