Two Samuel Overton Pettuses were in Texas at the same time. This one was the son of Hugh Pettus of Virginia and was a member of the New Orleans Blues. The other S.O. Pettus was the son of Freeman Pettus and was a member of Stephen F. Austin's original colony.
