obituary: Publication The Amsterdam Recorder Date April 05, 2005 Starr C. Tallman April 4, 2005 Mr. Starr C. Tallman, 95, formerly of Waddell Avenue, Fort Plain, New York, died Monday morning April 4, 2005 at the Palatine Nursing Home, following a long illness. Born in Little Falls, New York on January 15, 1910, he was the son of LeRoy Tallman and Nellie Rhoda Tallman. Mr. Tallman was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1929. Mr. Tallman was employed as an Assistant Postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 1/2 years, retiring in 1969. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army as a Rank of T-5 with the Second Infantry Division in the European Theatre. He was of Catholic Faith. Mr. Tallman was a lifetime member of the VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275 in Fort Plain. He was married on June 3, 1939 to Mary Moschell (the couple had been married for 58 years) in Canajoharie, New York. She passed away March 17, 1998. Survivors include one daughter Sharon Tallman of Fort Plain, New York; one son David Tallman of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two granddaughters Jessica and Jennifer Tallman both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by all of his siblings. Arrangements are by Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, New York. Following cremation, burial will take place at St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery in Canajoharie at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
