About CailinCasey

In June 2011, Cailin was one of eighteen students chosen at College of the Ozarks to accompany six veterans of WWII back to battle sites in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. The Patriotic Education Travel Program at College of the Ozarks sends students and WWII veterans hand in hand back to battle sites all over the world, and at no cost to either participant. After returning home from this incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience, Cailin spent the rest of the summer compiling the stories the veterans told her into a short book, titled, Twice as Brave: the Experiences of Six Veterans of WWII. Cailin submitted this to the College in lieu of the journal that she and the other students on the trip were required to submit upon their return. College of the Ozarks published Twice as Brave and Cailin designated all proceeds to benefit the Patriotic Education Travel Program. At the Veterans Reunion Ceremony in November 2011, one of the veterans Cailin traveled with, John Primerano of the 101st Airborne, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, asked Cailin to write his book. Two weeks after graduation in May 2012, Cailin packed up her car and moved to Exeter, New Hampshire to begin writing John Primerano's story. In September of 2012, Cailin finished writing John's book, titled Down to the Wire: the Experiences of WWII Screaming Eagle, John Primerano, and stories along those lines. It was then that another veteran who traveled on the June 2011 trip, Louis Rabesa Jr. of the 44th Bomb Group, 68th Squadron, asked Cailin to begin writing his book. Cailin moved to Cape Cod, Massachusetts to gather the information needed to write Mr. Rabesa's book. Cailin has since moved back to Missouri to finish her third book, and in November was presented with an honor for her work to preserve veteran's legacies by Former First Lady Mrs. Laura Bush, who spoke at College of the Ozarks. Cailin hopes to have Mr. Rabesa's book completed by the end of April 2013. Her second book, Down to the Wire will be available soon at College of the Ozarks. All proceeds benefit the Patriotic Education Travel Program.
