They may have moved there because his wife, Serena Seals Eddy's brother Iver Seals was living there. Also at about the same time her other brother Thomas Seals moved to Ainsworth too. - from Iver and Thomas Seals family records.

This was taken south of Ainsworth, Brown County, Nebraska. The bottom two photos are labeled "Fixed" and "Busted." Sherman Eddy said it was the alfalfa huller that was fixed and broken. He also said these photos were taken before any of the sons left home, so that would have been before 1908.

Location of Eddy farm

It was southeast of Ainsworth, Nebraska. From highway 20, go south on Pines St/Cemetery Rd. Ainsworth cemetery is about a mile south on the east side of the road. Chris, Serena, Anley and Lawrence Eddy are buried there. Chris and Serena Eddy's house was another mile south from the cemetery on the west side of the same road. The house is no longer there.

Memories of Lyle Eddy, son of Sherman Eddy:

Chris was kind of sleepy, fairly lenient on most things, but used physical discipline.

Serena was Norwegian Lutheran and had puritanical moral codes. She was pleasant and calm to grandchildren, she established order with the children.

The first time Lyle went to Ainsworth, they went on a train. Clifton met them at the depot with a horse and buggy that would seat about 4 people. Chris was one of the first in the valley to get a top buggy. He farmed his whole place and didn't rent land out.

When Lyle in elementary school (1920s), Sherman and Lyle drove up to Ainsworth alone.
On the way there they saw construction work at Long Pine and a horse got its foot stuck in the radiator of the car. That made Lyle scared of horses. In Ainsworth they
were putting up hay and needed someone to drive the horses to pull the fork over the cut hay so the men could stack the hay. Lyle ended up driving the horses.

The house had a summer kitchen a few yards from the house. They cooked out there. One time when Lyle was there, a overheated cook stove caught it on fire.

Last time Lyle was there was about 1936-1939.

Christopher L. Eddy (1857 - 1939)
