1/Lt.Norman F.Bettin of Montello,Wisconsin,2nd son of of William & Anita Bettin,crashed 23rd September 1944 in the woods around Otterlo,Holland. It was with the Operation Market Garden.Norman flew a Photo Recoinnassance flight and his P-51D # 44-13958,364th Fightergroup/ 383rd Fightersquadron, was hit by FLAK of the airfield Deelen,Holland.

The 7th October 1944,woodworkers found his aircraft and his body and he was buried at the local Cemetery of Otterlo,Holland.After the war his remains were bought to the US Cemetery Margraten Holland. Plot C-Row 19 - Grave 30.

Norman had two brothers,Maynard and William and sister Leona.Two other daughters were died and the dead of Norman was a great tragedy for both his parents. Maynard serve in the war with the US Army and Leona at the Women Corps. In 1950,William joins the US Navy.

Twice a year I place a wreath near his stone,to remember Norman.He is not forgotten.
