PFC George Davis (Army SN 34553436) was a member of the all-black 333rd Field Artillery Battalion(Heavy) when it was attacked by the Germans in the Battle of the Bulge. The 333 FA had many casualties on December 17, 1944. This artillery unit was easily over-ran by the heavily armored Germans. Eleven(11) men from this unit killed in action on December 17 are still buried in one of two American military cemeteries in Belgium.

A war attrocity was related to this unit at this battle. Eleven of the men were captured when the Germans over-ran their positions. The Nazi-SS took the soldiers to Wereth, Belgium and brutally tortured them before killing them. This incident is known as the "Wereth 11". PFC George Davis was one of these 11 men who were brutally murdered. (However, not all of the 11 buried in Belgium were among these who were tortured but were probably killed in combat.)
