   Hi - my Dad was in the 840th BG at Foggia in Italy during WWII but we lost all his WWi photos and papers in H. Katrina. Do you know of anyone doing what you do for the 840th or a webisite? 

Walter Anthony Battistella, B-17 Heavies, 483rd Bomb Group, 480th Bomb Squadron ( Red Tail markings, a " Y " with a star under it.

Walter A Battistella, 1922-2005

 Walter;  His life:

 Battistella - Know now: Lord Jesus, Maker of the Deep; Walter has found
his final port in Thee. Walter Anthony Battistella, beloved father of Walter
Battistella II of Metairie, LA and Janet Battistella Perez of Hobart, IN, passed
away on October 13, 2005, at the Palliative Care Unit-VA Medical Center in Battle
Creek, MI just 15 days short of his 83rd birthday. He was a retired US Judiciary
employee and a resident of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, MS.
Walter (Tony) was predeceased by: parents, Walter Battistella and Catherine
Greco; and siblings: Inez Battistella, Ethel Clesi Richard, Catherine Sophie
Gruenig, Stanley Philip Battistella and Herbert Louis Battistella. He is survived
by his children and their mother Katherine Roberts Battistella, his life long
friend/companion/former wife. Michael P. Perez, devoted son-in-law/friend,
Siblings: Preston J. (Georgette) Battistella of Metairie, LA, and Joyce Monju of
Lafayette, LA. Grandchildren Eric Shane Maravilla of Beaufort, SC, Steven Mark
Maravilla (Sandy) of Merrillville, IN and Amy Lynn Perez of Orlando, FL along
with many dear nieces and nephews, too numerous to list. He had a gift for life
and enjoyed his time on earth until his illness and evacuation due to Katrina. He
loved his 'Lady' (the sea), his family, friends and beloved dog 'Midnight'. He
was our father, father-in-law, friend, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather and
uncle. He is missed by many and remembered forever in our hearts. Internment will
be in Lake Lawn Cemetery, Metairie, LA on Saturday, October 14, 2006.
