After completing a tour of duty with the 91st BG, was assigned to the 84th Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group, 8th Air Force stationed at Duxford Aerodrome, Royal Air Force Duxford, USAAF Station #357 in Cambridgeshire County, England.

Killed in Action (KIA); shot down (POW) over France on 17 July 1944 while flying Republic P-47D Thunderbolt serial #42-26652; died on 20 July 1944 at the Chalons-sur-Marne hospital.
