He entered service with the USAAF in September 1942, Service #39832837, and was assigned to B-24 Bombers, as a Gunner, with the with 329th Bomber Squadron, 93rd Bomber Group, Heavy. His assigned bomber was the B-24D Liberator #42-40804 "Lady Jane".
