John C. Shine, 83

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - John Clayton Shine, 83, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, in Penn Hall Nursing Center.

Born Aug. 9, 1925, in Dodge Center, Minn., he was the son of the late John and Bertha Bowie Shine. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Twila Jeanne Fennell Shine.

He was owner and operator of Red Bridge Roller Rink in Chambersburg from 1970 to 2005.

He served on the USS Intrepid in World War II. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Greenvillage. He was a member of the American Legion Post 46 and AMVETS Post 224.

He is survived by one daughter, Nancy J. Weigel of Coral Springs, Fla.; one son, Terry J. Shine of Park Ridge, N.J.; two grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Morris; and three sisters, Alice, Rosemary and Miriam.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
