Service

From the DAR: Served 1790-93 as a spy, Indian Scout. Served Maryland troops and was on payroll 5 Mar 1767, according to Maryland Muster Rolls. Served entire duration of Rev. War.

He was a Captain of a group of mounted scoutsin the Rev. War from PA. Mrs. Messerschmidt , in her book, says that on more than one occassion Andrew Friend and his brother, Augustine, joined the celebrated Daniel Boone of Kentuckyin his hunting and Indian fighting excursions, and their names find honorable mention with his in the annals of that stirring period.
