GUN SHOT WOUNDS FATAL TO AGED MAN

Hit by Scattering Shot from Gun Fired by His Son

While hunting on his former farm in Center township on Wednesday, Harrison Munshower, aged 81 years, of Blairsville, sustained shotgun wounds which resulting in an attack of pneumonia, caused his death on Thursday.

Accompanied by his son, Gillis, the two drove to the former Munshower homestead farm, near Homer City, on Wednesday to enjoy a hunt. While the two were separated by a clump of bushes the son fired at a partridge and several of the shot hit the father in the breast and the abdomen. The wounds were not regarded as fatal, but on account of his advanced age he was unable to rally from the attendant shock and the fatal attack of pneumonia developed, resulting in his death within a few hours.

The deceased was a veteran of the Civil war and served as a member of Company F, 74th regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was vice commander of the Finley Patch Post, G.A.R., of Blairsville, and was a lifelong member of the M.E. church.

He conducted a farm in Center township for many years, but retired from activities several years ago and located in Blairsville where he made his home with his children.

The funeral services were conducted on Saturday in the Blairsville M.E. church and interment followed in the cemetery at that place. He is survived by the following children all residing in Blairsville and vicinity: Harry, Gillis and W.A. Munshower, Mrs. W.P. Cobes, Mrs. Theodore Altman and Mrs. William Rosborough. He is also survived by a brother, Houston Munshower.
