Lt. U.S. Army, World War II-Lt. DePaul was killed in automobile crash along with Sgt. Charles Leroy Bell of Tyrone, Pennsylvania outside of Duncan Mills, Illinois on 7-15-1943. They were from Camp Ellis' 248th Laundry Battalion outside of Lewistown, Illinois.

He is the son of Mr. Leonard A. & Mrs. Antonia DePaul of Utica, New York, and he enlisted in 1941, and was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked on 12-7-1941. He is the oldest of three boys.

Lt. DePaul received his Lt. Bars in March of 1942 at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Awards: American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal.

Footnote: Lt. DePaul was to marry a Peoria Girl in September, Miss Ruth Holland, of 9206 Main Street, and she is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J.W. Holland of Wyanet, Illinois.
