SSGT Eugene Joseph Sedlacek was born on 19 Nov 1919 at Chicago, Cooks County, Illinois. He was the son of Edward and Anna Krubel Sedlacek. His siblings were Gladys, Evelyn, Ann and George Sedlacek. Eugene married Lavergne Weber. He stood 5'7", 154 lbs with brown eyes and brown hair. Eugene worked for the Standard Distribution Company, Chicago, Illinois.

He entered the US Army and completed Basic and Advanced Individual Trainings. Being assigned to the 112 Infantry Regiment 28th Infantry Division his unit was deployed overseas to assist the Allied Forces in the Normandy invasion. The unit fought in Germany and France participating in the capture of Paris, France. They also engaged in the Battle of the Bulge, Germany.

SSGT Eugene Sedlacek was listed as KIA on 16 Dec 1944 in Germany. The final resting place for SSGT Eugene Joseph Sedlacek is Arlington National Cemetery (s34 g4102) on 15 April 1949.
