Theodore F. Royston was born in Clarke County, Virginia in 1844. Theodore had a living mother and father, Minerva and Matthew Royston. He also had three sisters, Isabella, Harriet, and Mary, and a brother, Robert. Theodore's father was a farmer, and his mother was a house keeper.[1]

Theodore enlisted, and was a Private in Company E, Virginia 7th Cavalry Regiment in 1863.[2] His company was detailed on April 1, 1863. On April 25th, 1863, Royston’s $400.00 horse was killed in Greenland Gap, West Virginia. On June 21, 1863, he was wounded, and due to these wounds, he died. He is buried in Fauquier County, Virginia.
