2nd Lt. Paul Langdon was the co-pilot of a B-25J that was lost on a bombing mission over Saigon, French Indo-China. The mission began at Palawan Island, Philippines at 0635 hours and returned at 1616 hours. This mission would take the extreme range of the aircraft's flying limit.

His aircraft was in Flight 1 of four flights of eight B-25s, supported by P-38 covering aircraft. However, the P-38s failed to connect with the bombers and they continued their bomb runs over shipping in the "Saigon River" without fighter cover.

The aircrafts bombs succeeding in destroying a freighter, and was then hit by FLAK. It was then attacked by a Japanese "Zeke/Zero". The Japanese broke off the attack, and the B-25 was seen to crash about 17 miles south of Saigon. There was one parachute, but the aircraft was at about 200 feet when he jumped.

The members of the crew were recommended for the Silver Star following the action. (No information regarding whether or not they were awarded.)
