    Mark BURK (also recorded as “BIRK”), age 21, was enlisted as Private on April 2nd, 1862 in Captain McLean’s Company, Company H (Union Rebels), 6th Regiment Florida Infantry by J. J. Finley at Mount Vernon Arsenal, Florida, for a period of 3 years or the war.

    He is reported absent on the Company Muster Roll for June 30th through November 12th, 1862.  This roll documents absent sick at Knoxville, Tennessee, since October 27th, 1862.

    He was recorded as absent without leave in Florida from November 12th, 1862 through July 9th, 1863,

    He war recorded as being under arrest for desertion from November 9th, 1863 through February 29th, 1864.  His last known location is military prison at Atlanta Georgia on April 7th, 1864 from a receipt for issue of clothing.
