Andrew Chamberlain was born in England. According to family records he was born on 12 Dec 1832. In 1855 Andrew and his sister, Ann, wrote a letter to his brothers, Thomas and Matthew who had already made the trip to America. The letter is part of a collection of letters between the family members living in England and the family who had immigrated to America.

Andrew Chamberlain and his brother, Matthew are listed in the roster of soldiers serving with the 41st Ohio Company H. According to Andrew's compiled military file, he was 'absent' from duty duing the period of Jan 1862-June1862 for medical reasons listed as "Chronic Inverterate Rhumatism and General Delibility". Andrew Chamberlain was discharged June 181862 in by order of a surgeon in Louisville, KY.

Andrew and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Langford Chamberlain raised a family of 10 children. Besides their life in Ohio they also lived in KS and OK where Andrew was a farmer. He lived to be 81 years old.

The Chamberlain family has numerous letters from Andrew's family members who stayed in England. They span from 1855 to 1920 when Andrew died.
