on of Maj. Frederick Steidinger Heiskell and Eliza Brown; brother of Margaret Alexander White Heiskell, the second wife of Judge Jesse George Wallace. He wrote a diary of his trek by wagon train to Sacramento, CA, during the gold rush. Died in CA in 1849. The diary was later published as "A Forty-Niner from TN: The Diary of Hugh Brown Heiskell."
