Benedict Arnold

Benedict Arnold

US Revolutionary War · US Army · Major General

Best known as the traitorous American general who unsuccessfully plotted to turn over his command at West Point to the British, Benedict Arnold had formerly been an accomplished leader of Patriot forces. But bitterness over perceived and real wrongs done to him by the Continental Congress and fellow colonial officers led Arnold to switch sides.
