on of Christopher Barton and his wife, Dorothy Unknown, of Killaloe, Co. Clare, Ireland. Isaac, a cutler by trade, was a Quaker. He and Dorothy were married in Tipperary in 1705. In 1714, they immigrated to Chester Co., PA, where they were members of the Chester Meeting. They were the parents of seven known children: Abraham; Isaac; Elizabeth; Mary; Jacob; Joshua; and Benjamin.
