He was wounded in the Battle at Pork Chop Hill late 1953. Unit was ordered to hold the hill. They were over ran just before replacements arrived. Replacements found them under debre in command post. After returning to The USA he was stationed at Ft Carson, Co. Company F 128 Infantry.

Another story he told was they were on top o a hill with a small winding road going down. His commander told him to get in a truck and follow the other trucks. He tried to explain he had never drive a truck but order is an order. so he got in it . At night truck used cat eyes ( small "+" lights) so they couldn't be seen by the enemy. So never driven a truck and now couldn't see he did as ordered. as they went down the hill he drove to close to the outer edge of the hill and rear tire went over the edge. He yelled for every body to jump. The truck went over edge. Never mind by-by to rank. But all on board made it. He say's now that it's over it is funny but not then.

Another story was made into a movie called Porkchop Hill.

While serving in Korea he was exposed to Agent Orange. Later it cause medical complication and in 1983 he passed away from them.
