Army Specialist four Donald W. Crabaugh, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Crabaugh Jr., 3724 N. Lister Dr., receives the Army Commendation Medal during ceremonies near Seoul, Korea. Presenting the award is Colonel Woodrow W. Parker, commanding officer of Special Troups, Eighth U.S. Army. Looking on is Command Sergeant Major George H. Hamel. Spec. 4 Crabaugh received the award for heroism in action against enemy forces in Vietnam. During the same ceremonies, he was also presented the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. Both awards were presented for service in Vietnam from December 1968 to January 1969, while serving as a radio-telephone operator in Company C, 4th Battalion, 39th Infantry of the 9th Infantry Division. He is a draftsman with the 199th Personnel Service Company, Special Troups, Eighth U.S. Army, Seoul. The specialist entered the Army in July 1968. He also holds the Purple Heart. Spec 4 Crabaugh is a 1966 graduate of North Kansas City High School. The awards were presented Oct. 23.
