Chester Jerome Tibbetts was reported as KIA in the Spring City, Tennessee newspapers. It read:

Four Area Men Victims of War

Four men, all wounded in the German offensive, are additions to the casualty list today according to word received by next of kin and War Department releases.

They are:

PVt. HENRY F. PRICHARD, husband of Mrs. Bertha Prichard and son of Mr. and Mrs. Bates Prichard, 2002 Laura Street.

PFC. STANLEY C. REED, husband of Mrs. Mary Sue Reed and father of Howard Reed, 2303 Kirby Avenue, seriously wounded Feb. 10.

PVT. CHESTER J. TIBBETTS, husband of Mrs. Laura R. Tibbetts, 1208 Belmeade Avenue.

PVT. ROBERT F. WEST, son of Andy A. West, Daisy.

The story I was told was that he was wounded and lay in a ditch under another man that had passed for three days.
