Brother of Maj. Arthur Chamberlin, Sr., of Amwell Twp., Washington Co., PA. He fought in the American Revolution. Surname is spelled "Chamberlain" on his headstone. Reportedly, he and wife Elizabeth had no children; in his will, he left her his entire estate. It has been claimed by some that this Robert is the "Robert Chamberlain" who previously lived in York Co. and who served as a witness to the 1776 will of Jeremiah Chamberlain, Sr., of that county. If true, this could suggest a possible family link between the "Chamberlains" of York Co. and the "Chamberlins" of Washington Co.
