I started working on my ancestry about 10 years ago.
I always remembered the stories the family told about George Major. Great Grandmoms Uncle. She was the daughter of Jesse Major.
He had been murdered by the Mollys. I guess caught in the cross fire or whatever. He was called on a fire (turned out to be a false alarm) and a fight broke out between some of the Molly's and he was shot and died from complications. No one was ever prosecuted for the crime, as far as I know.
I get such silence when I ask for help from people living in that area. Its feels like they think he should have been murdered. After all he was not a molly and a Welshman. Anyone who was not one of them deserved to die. They had a right to murder people. After all they were victims of the coal mine owners..
They all want to write the story of the coal miner victims, (key word victims) but want to ignore the others who lost their lives because of the molly's. I find that interesting. I am a product of a Irish and welsh backround. I know how the Irish were victimized. My irish ancestors worked in the coal mines.
