PRINCETON, Ill. -- Russell J. Cardosi, 74, of Princeton, Ill., passed away Sunday, December 10, 2006, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Summers Chapel at the Oakland Cemetery in Princeton with his granddaughter Sarah Campbell officiating. Jensen Funeral Home, Princeton, is assisting the family with final arrangements.

He was born January 21, 1932, in Canton, Ill., to Russell and Helen (Simmons) Cardosi. He married Jackie Reffett on January 25, 1950.

He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, having served during the Korean conflict. He was instrumental in the development of many youth sports in Silvis and Princeton. While living in Silvis, he was a City Alderman, volunteer fireman and a member of the Optimist Club. He and his family moved in 1966 to Princeton, where he started his own electrical contracting business (C&C Electric). He was a charter member of the Princeton Optimist Club and also belonged to the Elks and Moose Lodge in Princeton.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Brian (Jill) Cardosi, of Princeton; and three daughters, Debra (Myron) Leesman, of Castroville, Texas, Kathy (David) Sullivan, of Princeton, and Cynthia Cardosi, of Princeton. Grandchildren are Jason and Jessica Cardosi, Ian (Crissa) Cardosi, Michael Sullivan, and Matthew and Andrew Leesman, and Sarah (Kevin) Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, David in infancy and Michael, and one brother, Charles.
