The United States Army educational tour - 2008

  • Fort Jackson, South Carolina

History in the making. Twice a year the Army hosts a tour for various members of the community, educators, media and other folks are given a preview of the Army life from the minute the recruits arrive to their graduation and receiving their orders. I was privileged to be among that group and I saw HUMAN EXCELLENCE in the 1330 graduates on April 4th 2008. During those three days we saw what a soldier goes through to becoming Army Strong and a defender of our freedom. A new sense of security and a new sense of pride to be an American came over me. The educational opportunities available to our men and women in the Army are profound. They are taught to make good decisions, strong army values guiding them to wisely plan their lives and given the means to reach their goals. The soldiers creed lived throughout our country's history says it all. I am a warrior and a member of a team. I serve the people of the United States of America and live the army values. I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat, I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade. It was very humbling to look into the eyes of men and women willingly committed to lay their lives down for ME and YOU if necessary, and to realize through the generations of our history men and women like that have maintained our freedom and have made us the strong country that we are. It was amazing to see the progress of technology in action and the gratitude our troops deserve. The Army truly trains men and women to be the Best they can be and Army strong is truly Army Strong.
