LEWISTOWN, IL - Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Underwood) Sheets, a resident of Lewistown most of her life, and has lived at Bardolph the last two years, passed away at 9:55 PM Saturday January 14, 2012 at the Renaissance Care Center in Canton, IL.

She was born October 9, 1922 at Rush Run, OH, the daughter of Leonard Samuel and Mary Jane (Bellville) Underwood. She married Wilbur D. Sheets on October 25, 1941 at Kirkwood, Mo. He died August 13, 1982.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Frank A. Weston.

Surviving is one daughter, Kay A. (Joe) Miles of Lewistown, one son, Davis K. Sheets Sr. of Bardolph, one brother, Leonard Samuel "Bud" Underwood of Utah, 8 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Mary graduated from Lewistown High School in 1941, and then graduated from Liberty Beauty College in 1958. She worked at Isted's drug store, Caterpillar, and also ran a beauty shop in her home for 50 years.

She was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Lewistown. Other memberships include the Hairdresser's Association, Lewistown Jr. Women's Club where she was past president, Lewistown Sr. Women's Club, Business and Professional Women of Fulton County, and a special card group. Mary enjoyed playing games at the Christian Church with friends. She also enjoyed family, friends, travel, & working hard.

Cremation will be accorded and burial of ashes will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown at a later date.
