Dumbarton Oaks Conference begins peace building efforts for Western Europe.

A significant advancement in the maintenance of global peace and cooperation, on August 21, 1944, at a mansion in Washington D.C., the Dumbarton Oaks Conference formally convened, during which the United Nations was recognized and negotiated.  Among the topics about UN formation was which nations would be invited to join, and the creation of the United Nations Security Council.  This meeting would be influential in the happening of the later Yalta Conference and the April 1945 meeting of the United Nations, which dealt primarily with post-WWII peace and economic stability.
