George Washington signed this discharge but called it a "Furlough". He was unable to discharge the troops until the ratification of a Peace agreement. This "Discharge" was found in the Pension file of James Kirkpatrick who served in a New Jersey regiment.

James Kirkpatrick, his wife Keziah (Biggs) and their children lived in Trenton, Hunterdon Co. (later Mercer Co.), NJ.
