League of Nations 2.jpg
Following more than twenty years of existence, on Apr. 18, 1946, the League of Nations was formally dissolved.  An initial idea of U.S. President Woodrow Wilson, the League of Nations sought to promote global peace and cooperation, though was not sufficient enough to meet the needs of post World War Two Europe.  Several ideas and practices, however, were later adopted by the United Nations, formed just years after.
