William Lochlin MacDonald, known always as 'Loch', was my paternal great grandfather. He was one of six children (I think) to John A. MacDonald. He was the second oldest after a brother and was very mechanically inclined. He was very dedicated to all his family members and seems to have been entirely reliable. Having lost the home he had built for his family during the Great Depression, he and his wife were exceedingly thrifty people and never purchased anything they couldn't pay for up front in cash. They would do things like recycle old bath water into the garden, or fold napkins up after they used them to expose the clean side and store them for later, lol. I remember walking amongst tall sunflowers in his New Hampshire garden when I was a little boy, and digging up earthworms for fishing bait. Great grandfather was very healthy and lived out the entire 20th century, and even in his 90s was known to go skiing. He died after being hurt on the stairs at his home, and his wife of many years followed him in her grief soon after.
