On Feb. 23, 1945, one of the most memorable WWII photos was taken on Mount Suibachi, the highest point on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima. The Pulitzer Prize winning photo came to be regarded as the most reproduced photo of all time, though the photo actually depicts the second flag raising event of that day.
