After years of conflict within the Nation of Islam, on Feb. 21, 1965, Malcolm X is assasinated while giving a speech in the Audobon Ballroom in New York. Accomplished by members of his own organization, Malcolm X (whose real name was Malcolm Little) had come into conflict with the Nation of Islam, given his radical tirades of black supermacy and extreme racism against other ethnicities.
