Jerry was drafted into the army on May 23 1968 and he left for Vietnam about Oct. 18 1968. He was sent to Pleiku and was assigned to the 3rd Pltn Charlie Co 1/12th Inf Reg 4th Infantry Division. On Jan 18, 1969 PFC Warbritton was killed while on reconnaissance mission near the Cambodian border. One of the members in his company was ahead of him and was shot going up a hill, Jerry went to his aid and was also shot. They both were medivaced out, and both passed away while in flight on the way to the med evac center. At the request of my parents, his body was escorted back from Vietnam by Sgt. Michael Collins who was also from Jerry's home town of Attica, Indiana. Military personnel from Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana preformed the military rites. We as a family were very devastated at the loss of my parents son and our brother. He will always be in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
