Warren Winfield Harvey was born August 21, 1919 in New York. His parents were Murray McNeil and Jessie McDonald Harvey. They were both born in New York and owned their own lamp shade manufacturing business. They had two children; Warren and his sister Patricia. His father died in 1941

He had completed one year of college when he enlisted on April 13, 1943 in the United States Army. Harvey had the rank of Staff Sergeant. Service number assignment was 32888607. He was attached to the 642Bomb Squadron, 409 Bomb Group, 9AF USAAF as a gunner.

Sgt. Harvey lost his life on February 2, 1945 when on a mission to Cologne, to bomb railway yards, his Havoc aircraft was hit by flak in the wingspan and went out of control and crashed over Liblar, Germany. Three crew were killed and one was captured.

Harvey was originally interred overseas in a small cemetery in Liblar, Germany. He was later repatriated to Arlington National Cemetery on September 4, 1951 in Section 12, Suite 6629 with Sgt. Odom. He is named on a group headstone because when soldiers were killed in close proximity to each other they were unable, at that time, to identify them separately and interred their remains together in one grave.
