Arthur F Stancati was born on April 6, 1924 in New York City, New York but the family moved to Monmouth County, New Jersey. His parents were Antones and Grazia “Grace” Frangella Stancati who were both born in Italy. Antones owned and operated his own shoe repair shop and worked as the Shoemaker. They had two sons including Alfred.

He had enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces and served during World War II. Stancati had the rank of Sergeant. Service number assignment was 15342096. Attached to 34th Bomber Group, Heavy, 7th Bomber Squadron as a Tail Gunner.

Stancati lost his life on D Day June 6, 1944. He was the Tail Gunner on the crew of B-24 Liberator #41-28838 "Misery Agent" on a mission towards Normandy on D-Day on Operator Overload. They ran out of fuel and crashed into the trees and burned near the English coast killing the 9 crew members on board. They were still carrying twelve 500lb bombs at the time.

Arthur F Stancati is buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey.
