MIA 3-2-1944 as pilot of P-47D / #42-8563 / PE-'R' / MACR 2122. Returning from an escort mission to Wilhelmshaven, Germany, lost over the North Sea in heavy overcast / rain / hail conditions. Lost approximately 50 miles north of Texel Island, the Netherlands.

1Lt Cornick is commemorated on the Cambridge Cemetery Tablets of the Missing.
