Glynn Arthur Daufney was born April 1, 1924 in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota to Louis J. & Lillian (Martin) Daufney. He had four older sisters; Nellie, Myrtle, Esther and Delia Daufney and two older brothers; Byron and Gordon Daufney. His father Louis "Peg Leg" died in 1932 from a sudden heart attack and his mother raised the children by working as a Domestic for others, she never remarried and died in 1983.

He had enlisted in the Army Air Forces after working for the Forestry Service and served with the 8th Air Force, 305th Bomber Group, Heavy, 365th Bomber Squadron. He had the rank of Sergeant and his specialty was Ball Turret Gunner. Service number was 37582987.

Daufney experienced a traumatic event which resulted in loss of life on April 10, 1945. He was killed in action when his aircraft a B-17G aircraft #43-38803, on a mission to Oranienburg, Germany collided with another B-17, aircraft #44-6593 during formation over Wilsnack, Germany. His aircraft #43-38803 went down, out of control, into a steep dive. Only 1 chute was seen by members of the Group. 16 crew members from both aircraft were KIA. One was captured as a POW.

Sgt Glynn A. Daufney was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Neuville-en-Condroz, Belgium Block Y, Row 7, Grave 155, then reinterred at Plot B Row 32 Grave 19, Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium. This is an American Battle Monuments Commission location.
